On this special tour, we will get up close to one of the least spoilt Himalayan countries in search of some very special and beautiful birds. Besides offering a first-hand opportunity to see the country in all its natural ruggedness, the tour also combines visits to ancient monasteries and temples and destinations like Paro, Thimphu, Paro, Phobjikha, and Punakha. The famous fortress of Paro Dzong and the Ta Dzong Watchtower will be
the major highlights at Paro besides birding alongside Paro and Thimphu. Other sites to be visited include the National Library, Institute for Zorig Chusum, Textile and Folk Heritage Museum, National Memorial Chorten, and the Tashichhodzong (an impressive fortress or monastery).
Birdwatchers will find themselves in breathtaking surroundings looking for legendary species in pristine and seemingly endless forests, such as Himalayan Monal, Satyr Tragopan, Blood Pheasant, Rufous-necked Hornbill, Ward’s Trogon, Beautiful Nuthatch, Himalayan Cutia, Black-necked Crane, and a whole host of other spectacular species, including the “newly split” Black-rumped Magpie.
