Overview
India is rich in wildlife, and no animal is a more famous ambassador of Wild India than the mighty Tiger. Join us on this journey to explore Central India, India’s wild heart, and the Western Himalayan foothills to explore the home of the Tiger in search of this mighty king, and meet and photograph the various birds and animals that share its home, with Asiatic Elephants and Leopards to Long-tailed Broadbills and Great Hornbills. This tour takes you to some of India’s best wildlife destinations to give you that truly wild Indian experience.
Experiencing the Jungle Book in Kanha
I’ve always been a big fan of reading, my favorite book being Rudyard Kipling’s collection of stories called The Jungle Book. I’ve imagined and dreamed so many times about venturing into the jungle in search of tigers and leopards and bears!
After much convincing, my sister and I finally got our family to accompany us to Central India, specifically Kanha National Park, in search of the mighty tiger
While the tiger is undeniably the star attraction of India’s jungles, we learned that it is not the only interesting denizen of the forest. For example, the Barasingha (also called the Southern Swamp Deer) is a type of deer found only in Kanha National Park. Our expert guide also taught us so many things about Indian wildlife, like the friendship that Spotted Deer and Langurs share, or the family structure of a herd of Gaur (sometimes called Indian Bison). We even saw the Barking Deer, a deer named so because of its bark-like alarm call.
This was my first time birdwatching too, and the knowledge of the drivers and guides who accompanied us has definitely converted me to this. So many beautiful birds call Central India home, such as Malabar Pied Hornbill, Banded Bay, Indian Cuckoos, and Grey-headed Fish Eagle, just to name a few. We even saw a Crested Serpent Eagle with a snake in its talons.
The Tiger Tour we took was expertly arranged by Asian Adventures, and it definitely delivered on its promise of great sightings of tigers and other animals, along with a great birdwatching experience, glimpses of the beautiful landscape, and architecture and lifestyle of central India, and unique accommodation with excellent hospitality.
