Overview

Our guided birding tour of North India takes you to the best birding sites of North India, such as the Sultanpur Sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park (more popularly known as Bharatpur), the National Chambal Sanctuary, and the Himalayan Foothills near Nainital.

 

In addition to this site, a visit to Corbett National Park, regarded as the best Tiger Reserve of Uttarakhand is included. This tour encompasses all the varied landscapes and experiences that North India has to offer. These varied landscapes also give you the chance to see over 350 species of birds, such as Great Hornbill, Kalij Pheasant, Long-tailed Broadbill, Tawny Fish Owl, Cheer Pheasant, Ibisbill, Indian Skimmer, and Sarus Crane, and many iconic mammal species such as Tiger, Leopard, Asian Elephant, Golden Jackal, and Indian Muntjac. A ‘must do’ visit to the iconic Taj Mahal is also included to make this tour well-rounded.

Day 01
Arrive Delhi

Meals: On Own
Accommodation: Hotel Pride or similar

 

Arrive Delhi in the Evening. You will meet Asian Adventures representative and transferred to the Hotel. Overnight stay

Day 02
Day visit to Sultanpur Lake

Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: Hotel Pride or similar

 

You will be met by your guide for morning birding excursion to Sultanpur National Park (53 km / 1.5 hr). Return at noon. Should you wish to visit any monuments in Delhi in the afternoon, the vehicle and the driver will be at your disposal. Overnight stay

Day 03
Delhi to Bharatpur

Meals: Breakfast in Delhi, Lunch on own & Dinner in Bharatpur
Accommodation: Hotel Kadamb Kunj or similar

 

Morning excursion to Sultanpur for half day birding (closed on every Tuesday)
Return to the hotel at 1100 hrs
Check-out at noon to drive to Bharatpur (202 km / 6 hr.)
Arrive Bharatpur in the evening
Overnight stay

Day 04
Bharatpur

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner in Bharatpur
Accommodation: Hotel Kadamb Kunj or similar

 

Full day birding in Keoladeo National Park with a guide
Your driver will get your lunch from the hotel to the sanctuary to maximize your birding time
Overnight stay

Day 05
Bharatpur

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner in Bharatpur

Full day birding in Keoladeo National Park
Overnight stay

Day 06
Bharatpur to Agra

Meals: Breakfast & Lunch in Bharatpur, Dinner on own

Morning birding outside the park
After early lunch, drive to Agra (56 km / 2 hr.) to visit the Iconic Taj Mahal. Overnight stay

Day 07
Agra to Noida

Meals: Breakfast in Agra, Lunch & Dinner on own
Accommodation: Savoy Suites or similar

 

Morning visit to Taj Mahal with the guide. Check-out from the hotel and proceed to Noida (200 km / 5 hr.). Arrive Noida in the evening. Overnight stay

Day 08
Noida to Corbett National Park

Meals: Breakfast in Noida, Lunch & Dinner in Corbett National Park
Accommodation: Tiger Camp or similar

 

After early breakfast, drive to Corbett Park (246 km / 6 hr.). Arrive Corbett for Lunch. Evening birding at Kosi River with the guide. Overnight stay

Day 09
Corbett National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner in Corbett Park
Accommodation: Tiger Camp or similar

 

Morning and afternoon visits to the Grasslands & Forested area in 4WD for Bird Watching, Tiger Tracking and Wildlife Viewing
Overnight stay

 

Species:

Great Hornbill, Pallas's Fish Eagle, Red-collared Falconet etc. are some of the rare birds that are found in Corbett National Park. More birds include Jungle Owlet, Scaly-bellied Woodpecker, Red-breasted Parakeet, Himalayan Swiftlet, Stork-billed & Crested Kingfisher, White-tailed & Siberian Rubythroat

Corbett National Park

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner in Corbett Park
Accommodation: Tiger Camp or similar

Corbett to Pangot

Morning birding outside the park. After breakfast, drive to Pangot (75 km / 2.5 hr.) stopping en route at for birding. Arrive Pangot in the evening. Overnight stay

Day 12
Pangot

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner in Pangot
Accommodation: Jungle Lore Birding Lodge or other neighboring lodges

 

Full day birding in Pangot with your guide
Overnight stay

 

One can see Cheer, Koklas and Khalij, Crested Serpent-eagle, Mountain Hawk-eagle, Woodpeckers such as Brown-fronted, Stripe Breasted, Rufous-bellied etc. Thrushes such as Dark- throated, Mistle etc. Striated Prinia can be see in the terraced fields. Warblers such as Tickell's Leaf-warbler, Greenish, Golden-spectacled, Grey-hooded. Flycatchers such as Asian Brown, Rusty Tailed, Ultramarine, Verditer, Tickell's Blue, Rufous-bellied Niltava etc

Day 13
Pangot

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner in Pangot
Accommodation: Jungle Lore Birding Lodge or other neighboring lodges

 

One more day birding at Pangot
Overnight stay

 

Species:

Orange-flanked Bush Robin, Blue-capped Redstart Laughingthrushes such as White-throated, Striated & Streaked, Chestnut-crowned etc. Look for Accentor, Upland Pipit, Blue Winged Minla, Whiskered Yuhina etc. Slaty-headed & Red-breasted Parakeet, Grey Bushchat, Long-tailed & Grey-backed Shrike, Common Kestrel, Besra, Chestnut Bellied Rock Thrush etc. Streaked Laughingthrush is a common garden bird here

Day 14
Pangot to Delhi

Meals: Brunch in Pangot, Packed Lunch, Dinner on own
Accommodation: Eros Intercontinental or similar

 

Morning birding in Pangot
After brunch, drive back to Delhi (292 km / 8 hr. drive; you can also opt for packed lunch if you wish to leave for Delhi little early)
Arrive Delhi in the evening
Overnight stay

Day 15
Departure

Meals: Breakfast
Accommodation: None

 

Transfer to Delhi Airport (20 km / 1 hr.) to connect flight back home.  Tour Ends

We also got a nice Birding trip from Bharatpur to Uttarakhand with (Sattal, Pangot and Corbett), with your driver and (bird) guide Joginder. Excellent Birding tour It was really nice to do this trip, also together him. We really enjoyed it! Joginder showed us again some special birds like Jungle Owlet, Spotted Forktail and so on.

Thank you for arranging the Pangot Sattal tour especially when we had to contact you at the last moment for a car when we had issues with our flight. My wife Geetha and I had a great time and we managed to spot many of our target birds in spite of this being summer season . Our guide Deepak was excellent and has great field knowledge and helped us spot many of our main target birds like long tailed broadbill , brown wood owl , laughing thrushes , Minlas, koklass pheasant , woodpeckers ( 4 of them ) , forktail etc . Deepak went to great lengths to find each and every bird possible as well as used his knowledge of calls to spot around 100 species . I would highly recommend him and would want to come back next time with your company and Deepak as guide ! Also wanted to thank Pavan our driver who is very professional and hardworking and was always helping . Thank you once again for your professional handling of my trips

My bird guides were terrific, very knowledgeable and experienced that undoubtedly enhanced my birdwatching experience. You may well be aware that prior to contacting you I was in negotiation with Sunil as he came highly recommended. However, as he could not cover all my trip he suggested I contact you as so I was so pleased when I discovered that he was to be my guide in the Himalayan part of the trip. Delver was also very skilled and ensured that I saw as many birds as possible. Your guide in Agra was helpful and informative and worked conscientiously to ensure I enjoyed my visit to the cultural sites acquired the maximum from my time there. I was impressed with all guides and would have no hesitation in using them again. Firstly may I say how impressed I was that from start to end you were very considerate to my requests and the flexibility you showed when I made a last minute request to change my itinerary was greatly appreciated. In respect of accommodation, I was greatly impressed with Kaffal House/ Jungle Lore in Pangot. Staff were very helpful and amenable, the food fantastic and the location ideal. I could easily have spent more time here. I had been spoiled with my Pangot experience! The food in all hotels and accommodation was superb and I enjoyed the meals which were varied and plentiful, sometimes too plentiful as I had put on a little weight!!

Just a quick note to say thank you for organising our trip; Emily and I had a fantastic time and will return to India again at some point in the future! I also wanted to pass on feedback for our driver, he was very good and saw us safely from place to place without any mishaps! He was also very willing to alter our route slightly on the last full day when Emily and I wanted to go to an elephant sanctuary between Agra and Delhi, which hadn't been in our original plan. He was always happy and cheerful and I would have no issue using his services again.

As we told Mohit when he kindly called on us in Delhi, we had a splendid time. The programme was just right, with a variety of environments from rivers to parks to mountains, and the birds and other wildlife were even more than we had expected.More important, perhaps, given my wife?s disability, our guide and driver (Deepak and Pamun) were kind and helpful to a fault. Deepak went out of his way to help at all times, and ? most important ? we felt we could rely on him in all circumstances. He also had a thorough knowledge of the birds! Both were also charming and fun to be with. It is not often one can spend three weeks in close proximity with strangers and (on our side at least) have no issues to complain about!

I wish to thank the Asian Adventures Team for the excellent holiday my cousin and I had at Jungle Lore Birding Lodge at Pangot, Uttrakhand. It was a tough and rugged place for us, two senior citizens. But what made it so unforgettable are the beautiful birds all around and the kind and caring staff, who attended to all our needs. After a few marginal additions to the property are made to make it more disabled-friendly, I would highly recommend it for senior citizens with minor disabilities.
