Overview
India is undoubtedly the stronghold of the tiger. With the world’s largest tiger population, these magnificent big cats are the focus of many wildlife tours and have become an unofficial wild ambassador for the country. This tour takes you to two of India’s most popular tiger reserves, in search of this regal predator.
Ranthambore National Park is arguably one of the best wildlife reserves in North India to spot a tiger. In fact, Ranthambore is credited to be home to the world’s most photographed wild tigers. Bandhavgarh National Park is regarded as one of the best tiger reserves in Central India and is uniquely famous as a forest offering nearly 100% Tiger sightings. The density of the tiger population at Bandhavgarh is one of the highest known in India.
Named after the Bandhavgarh Fort that now stands inside the park, Bandhavgarh National Park has one of the highest tiger densities in India. Originally the hunting ground for the Maharaja of Rewa, the tiger reserve was declared a national park in 1968. Apart from tigers, the park also boasts a healthy population of leopard, sloth bear, and other mammals, as well as more than 250 species of birds.
