Overview
From the world-famous rock-cut caves of Ajanta and Ellora, with their spectacular murals, to the beaches and rich Portuguese and British colonial history, Maharashtra and Goa are hubs of history, tradition, and culture. Join us on this journey to explore the rich history that these places possess and learn how they influence traditions and the way of life even today.
Our journey starts with 3 days in Aurangabad, from where the Ajanta and Ellora caves are closest. Aurangabad was once a centre of great importance on the ancient Silk Road. In fact, the Mughal emperors Tughlaq and Aurangzeb made Aurangabad their capital due to its strategic position. Apart from the caves, Aurangabad is famous today due to its wealth of other fascinating historical, cultural, religious and ecological sites includes the Daulatabad Fort, Bibi Ka Maqbara, Lonar Crater and Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga among many others.
From Aurangabad, we move to Goa, popular as one of India’s prime beach destinations. With fresh delicious seafood, beautiful beaches, and luxurious resorts, Goa is a true oasis. However, don’t forget that Goa also has a rich history. From Fort Aguada, built by the erstwhile Portuguese rulers, to the beautiful churches and temples, one can experience the entire history of this small state in a matter of days.
